Costa Pinto attended the 5th ESG Portugal Forum, organised by PLMJ and ECO, through the participation of its founding partner José Costa Pinto on the panel “What remains of ESG?”. The event brought together specialists and leaders from various fields to discuss the challenges and evolution of ESG practices in an economic and regulatory context undergoing transformation.
The debate stood out for the depth and relevance of the issues addressed, highlighting the future of ESG and, in particular, the absolutely structural importance of corporate governance in the performance and sustainability of organisations.
In his address, José Costa Pinto emphasised that there are no universal models or automatic solutions in this area. He stated that what does exist is well-established evidence: without good corporate governance, there is no sustainable growth, nor organisations capable of responding responsibly and effectively to their challenges.
He also argued that the implementation of concrete policies and measures in the environmental and social domains, duly approved by shareholders, represents an essential ethical commitment, extending not only to the future but also to all stakeholders involved.
Costa Pinto thanks the other panellists, Luís Pais Antunes, Filipe Duarte Santos and Madalena Perestrelo de Oliveira, as well as the moderator Luís Ferreira Lopes, for the quality of the reflections shared and for their contribution to the deepening of a debate that is increasingly decisive for organisations.
